Chocolate banana ice cream {vegan}

Prep time
Total time

Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 1 large portion
Ingredients
  • 2 frozen bananas, previously chopped in slices
  • 4-5 tbsp almond milk (or other milk)
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao
  • 2 medjool dates (or 2 tbsp agave or maple syrup)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅓ tsp cinnamon
  • Topping suggestion: melted dark chocolate, crushed pistachios or almonds
  • Note: I use medjool dates because they are softer and easier to blend but if you use regular dried dates, you can make them softer if you soak them in hot water for at least 30 minutes.
  • You can also taste the 'ice cream' before serving and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
Preparation
  1. Put all the ingredients in food processor / blender and process until smooth and creamy.
  2. Adjust the sweetness if necessary.
  3. If you want the soft serve like this one in the photos, serve immediately as it melts quickly.
  4. Alternatively, you can put in the plastic container and in the freezer until you want to serve. Remove from the freezer 10 -15 min before serving.
  5. Note: I prefer it when served immediately after blending as the texture is soft and creamy.
