Today’s post will be nice and short as I don’t have that much to write about. The weekend was spent mostly working as my husband was away again on a long business trip so I had a house to myself and most of the action was happening between my kitchen and the little corner where I normally shoot.
Besides for blog and my social media pages, I also shoot for stock and I work for a wonderful stock library called The Picture Pantry and you can see some of my work here. So this weekend there was roasting, baking, pans everywhere, mountains of dirty dishes, background boards lying all around the floor, every single kitchen cloth I own was dirty and if somebody was walking through those doors, they would think I’m a messy person and I’m actually just the opposite. I like order and like to keep things nice and organized and pretty. I will regularly by myself flowers just to make home prettier and will light candles in the evening even if it’s just me there watching TV. But there is one mess that I’m ok with and that’s a creative mess so when I’m working and shooting, than it’s kind of normal to have all that mess going on in my kitchen and living room. That’s probably the only part of this job that I would gladly give to somebody else, cleaning up after it’s all done but hey you gotta do what you gotta do! 🙂
Besides working I did manage to spend some nice time outside walking in the nature as the weather was finally warm and sunny. So after all the work and all the walking in the fresh air, I slept like a baby last night and that’s so rare lately as I normally have million thoughts going through my mind when I go to bed. Anyway, let’s go back to the recipe. It couldn’t be easier, you just grate (preferably in food processor as it’s much easier that way) some nice colorful raw veggies and you get this multivitamin healthy and fresh salad. If you normally eat carrots, beetroot and red cabbage cooked, I hope you’ll give this raw salad a try. It’s so good for you and it tastes great!
- 2 medium size carrots
- 1 beetroot
- 1 apple
- ½ head of red cabbage
- handful of cashews
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- For seasoning
- olive oil
- lime or lemon
- salt
- Peel and grate carrots, apple, beetroot and red cabbage using a grater or a food processor (what makes it much easier!).
- Put all in the large salad bowl, add cashews, sesame seeds and drizzle with olive oil, juice of 1 lime or lemon and add salt as per taste. Stir well and enjoy!
