How about Vanilla chia pudding and cherry smoothie jar for this Valentine’s Day?! 😀

Honestly, I’ve never really celebrated Valentine’s Day as I don’t like the commercial side of it but I’m always for spreading and sharing love, any day so why not also today! It can be a little sweet gesture or treat to your partner, a family member, a friend, yourself or even a total stranger that you can gift with a smile and kindness. Above all, little things are the important things! I know that internet is today full of beautiful decadent chocolate cakes and chocolate hearts filled with strawberries. Therefore, Vanilla chia pudding & cherry smoothie jar is a bit more modest and simple but still a lovely way to treat yourself or somebody you love! 🙂

This jar is perfect for breakfast, snack or dessert, it’s light, refreshing, mildly sweet from cherries, banana and a little bit of maple syrup and absolutely delicious! It’s also in my favourite purple colour so that makes everything even better! 😀

Pamper yourself…

Talking about Valentine’s, do you have any special plans for today, like going out for dinner with your loved one or preparing a special meal? Beacuse you know how they say that “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”? Well, that can apply for ladies too haha! What can be better than if your man makes an effort to prepare a special meal for his lady!? Hopefully at least some of you ladies are lucky enough to be pampered a bit because you definitely deserve it! However, if for any reason that is not happening, then ladies why not treating yourself with something that feels good, like a nice bath in the evening, some cozy time snuggled on your sofa with a good book and cup of tea, a delicious dinner and this purple, refreshing little jar for dessert! 🙂

In conclusion, whatever you will be doing today, something a little bit special or having just an ordinary day, remember to treat yourself from time to time and enjoy the little things that mean so much for our bodies and our hearts. Hopefully your every day is filled with love, laughter, positive thoughts and smiles on your faces!

Vanilla chia pudding & cherry smoothie jar (vegan, GF)

Recipe type: Breakfast / Dessert (vegan, GF)
Serves: 1 jar
Ingredients
  • For Vanilla chia pudding
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • ½ cup almond milk (or other plant-based milk)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp maple syrup (or agave)
  • For cherry smoothie
  • ½ cup almond milk (or other plant-based milk)
  • 1 small banana
  • handful of frozen cherries (or sour cherries)
  • 1 tsp acai powder (optional)
  • 1 small piece fresh ginger
  • For toppings: shredded coconut, cacao nibs
  • Note: ½ cup = 125 ml
Preparation
  1. For vanilla chia pudding combine chia seeds with almond milk, vanilla extract and maple syrup, stir well and leave for at least 20 min in the fridge (or overnight).
  2. For cherry smoothie put almond milk, banana, cherries, acai powder and ginger in a blender and blend until it gets smooth and creamy.
  3. To assemble a jar first put a layer of chia pudding, than a layer of cherry smoothie, another thin layer of chia pudding and finish with a smoothie layer.
  4. Decorate with shredded coconut and cacao nibs and enjoy!

  • SASTOJCI
  • Za chia puding od vanilije:
  • 2 zlice chia sjemenki
  • ½ salice bademovog (ili drugog po izboru) mlijeka
  • 1 zlicica vanilin ekstrakta
  • 1 zlicica javorovog ili agavinog sirupa
  • Za smoothie od tresanja:
  • ½ salice bademovog (ili drugog po izboru) mlijeka
  • 1 manja banana
  • saka tresanja ili visanja (smrznutih ili svjezih)
  • 1 zlicica acai praha (po zelji)
  • 1 manji komad svjezeg djumbira
  • Za posipanje:
  • kokos mrvice, kakao zrnca
  • Napomena: ½ salice = 125 ml
Preparation
  1. PRIPREMA
  2. Za chia puding pomijesajte chia sjemenke s mlijekom, dodajte vanilin ekstrakt i javorov sirup, promijesajte i ostavite barem 20 min u frizideru (moze i preko noci).
  3. Za smoothie od tresanja miksajte u blenderu mlijeko, bananau, tresnje, acai prah i djumbir dok ne dobijete glatki kremasti smoothie.
  4. Slazite u staklenku sloj chia pudinga, sloj smoothija od tresanja, jos jedan tanki sloj pudinga i konacno jos jedan sloj smoothija.
  5. Ukrasite po zelji kokos mrvicama ili kakao zrncima. Dobar tek!

    mmm, this sounds like it’d be such a treat for breakfast! it’s such a feast for the eyes with that color. only thing that would make it better is a bit of chocolate shavings on top in addition to the cocoa nibs (;

It was an early afternoon and this little farmers’ market was closing as I asked the woman selling the flowers if I could take a photo. She sounded almost embarrassed and said ‘oh you should have come earlier when my flowers were in their full beauty and the display was much prettier, I’m afraid they won’t make a nice photo now..’ I replied that they are beautiful and that I would very much like to take a photo of them. And afterwards I thought how I haven’t even noticed that they weren’t ‘perfect’ anymore. I guess I have always been drawn to ‘imperfection’ and find great beauty in it. ☺️✨✨✨

It is believed that this dessert was served for the first time in 1177 to the Pope Alexander III on the occasion of the blessing of the Rab Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary. One hundred years ago this unique Rab dessert was made by nuns in the monastery of St. Anthony of Padua, while some time later also in the Benedictine monastery of St. Andrew. The original and at the same time secret recipe was only known to a few of the Rab women. Even today it is known to only a few and it's made on especially festive occasions...
